I am a Postdoctoral Scholar at the Boston University Society of Fellows and an incoming Assistant Professor of Anthropology at the City University of New York (CUNY)—City College. Previously, I was a Postdoctoral Associate at the Center for Cultural Analysis at Rutgers University—New Brunswick. As an anthropologist, my work centers on urban life, temporality, migration, racialization, and care. In my current book project, I explore these issues through an engaged ethnography of Istanbul’s Tarlabaşı neighborhood.

My work has appeared in Environment and Planning D, Current Anthropology, City & Society, JOTSA, the Radical Housing Journal, and entanglements.  I received article awards from the Middle East Section of the American Anthropological AssociationMiddle East Studies Association, and the American Ethnological Society. My work has been featured in Anthropology News, the Status Podcast, and the CASTAC Blog. I am also a host on the New Books Network podcast.
